Course Overview

Our Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) is delivered monthly at our Stockton-on-Tees training centre (TS18 3TT), with on-site delivery available across Teesside and the wider North East for organisations training up to 20 learners.

This intensive 5-day course is ideal for individuals and teams looking to build or advance a career in pre-hospital care, event medical cover, ambulance support, or emergency response roles. Whether you’re based in Middlesbrough, Redcar, Darlington, Hartlepool or County Durham, our training is accessible, accredited, and trusted by employers throughout the region.

The FREC Level 3 qualification provides comprehensive training in pre-hospital emergency care, covering:

✔ Primary & Secondary Patient Assessment – Scene safety, casualty assessment, and triage procedures. Paediatric illnesses.
✔ Trauma Management – Handling severe bleeding, fractures, burns, and spinal injuries.
✔ Basic & Advanced Airway Management – Using oxygen therapy, suction units, and airway adjuncts.
✔ Medical Emergencies – Recognising and responding to conditions like heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and anaphylaxis.
✔ CPR & Defibrillation – High-quality Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use.
✔ Catastrophic Trauma Haemorrhage Control – Training in tourniquet application and haemostatic dressings.
✔ Use of Emergency Equipment – Applying collars, spinal boards, and bag-valve masks (BVMs).

This course involves intensive, hands-on training to ensure learners gain the confidence to handle real-world emergency situations. Utilising our simulation and skills areas at our Stockton on Tees centre.

Upon successful completion of the written and practical assessments the following certificates will be awarded:

Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of the training.

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid.

We provide a number of options to support you fund and finance this course. These include:

  • ELCAS funding – learners from the military may have funding available to support new civilian qualifications. Depending on the length of your service you maybe eligible for £1000 or £2000 towards this course.
  • Multiple booking discount – for companies who book 4 or more learners onto this course, you will be given a 15% discount on the total price.
  • Returning learners – all learners who choose to use us again will be given 10% off the total price of their refresher as a way to thank you for your support.
