Advice from people who have done the job

Our tutors are registered, practising clinicians. When you ask what a paramedic’s shift pattern is really like, or whether a Level 3 course leads anywhere, you get an answer from experience rather than a leaflet.

We do not run a careers service and we do not pretend to. What we offer is honest guidance at the points where it matters, from first enquiry to six months after you finish.

Step 1
Before you enrol
Plain information on entry requirements, hours, cost and funding. If a course is not the right route, we say so and point you to one that is.
Step 2
At induction
A progression map showing where your qualification leads and what the next level needs.
Step 3
During your programme
A next-step conversation at every 12-week review, employer visits, guest speakers and placements that open doors.
Step 4
Towards the end
Your tutor talks through progression, professional registration or a move into a new role. Practical CV and application help when you ask.
Step 5
After you finish
A short survey at completion and again six months later. It keeps the door open.

Before you enrol

We tell you plainly what a programme involves: entry requirements, hours, cost and funding. If a course is not the right route for the job you want, we say so and point you to one that is. Where you already hold relevant qualifications or experience, we look at recognising it so you do not repeat learning.

Towards the end

Before you finish, your tutor talks through your options: progression to the next level, registration with a professional body, or a move into a new role. If you want practical help with a CV or an application, ask and we will give it. Our How to Write a CV and Preparing for an Interview guides are a good start.

Impartial advice elsewhere

For free, impartial careers advice from qualified advisers, the National Careers Service is available on 0800 100 900. We recommend it alongside our own guidance, not instead of it.

Learning support and information

Making sure our learners feel supported on the learning journey is our highest priority. Whilst our tutors offer all the academic support you need, we provide a range of services to make sure you have all the care you need to succeed and reach your potential.
