Everyone who starts with us should be able to finish

Our learners include people with dyslexia, ADHD and autism, people managing long-term health conditions, carers, parents, and people returning to study after many years. Inclusion for us is practical. It means spotting what might get in the way, adjusting early, and asking you rather than assuming.

This page covers reasonable adjustments, wellbeing, our quiet room and what to do if you have a safeguarding concern. If you are not sure which applies, call 01325 609030 or email safeguarding@medipro.co.uk. That mailbox goes to our Safeguarding, Inclusion and Wellbeing Lead.

Tell us early

We ask every learner about support needs at enquiry and again at enrolment. Nobody is required to disclose anything, but the earlier we know, the more we can do. Adjustments for external exams and end-point assessments often need 30 days’ notice and supporting evidence, and some assessment organisations need longer.

If a need emerges during your programme, tell your tutor. Tutors refer it the same week.

Reasonable adjustments

A reasonable adjustment changes how you are assessed, never what is assessed. The standard stays the same. Typical adjustments include:

  • Extra time, rest breaks or a separate quiet room for assessments
  • A reader, a scribe or assistive technology
  • Modified papers or a revised schedule
  • Changes to how placement is arranged, including equipment or preparation

How it works

Step 1
Request
Complete our short Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations request form, available from your tutor or the office. Tell us what helps you and what evidence you have.
Step 2
Evidence
An EHCP, a letter from a GP, consultant or occupational health, a specialist assessor’s report or a diagnostic report. If you have none, talk to us anyway. We can advise on where to get it.
Step 3
Plan
We agree a written support plan within 10 working days of your need being confirmed. You sign it and it sits in your learner record.
Step 4
Review
Your plan is reviewed with you at least every 12 weeks and whenever your circumstances change.

For exams set by an awarding body or end-point assessment organisation, we apply on your behalf. We cannot guarantee their decision, and a request without evidence will not be approved. Where we can decide ourselves, such as internal tests and skills assessments, we tell you in writing and you have a right of appeal.

Adjustments are applied discreetly. Other learners are not told.

Apprentices

If you are employed, you may also be entitled to support at work through the government’s Access to Work scheme. We can help you with the Health Adjustment Passport that records your needs when you change roles.

Mental health and wellbeing

Studying while working is demanding. Wellbeing is a standing item at every progress review and in every learner survey, so you will be asked, not left to raise it.

If your mental health is affecting your learning, we can put a support plan in place with a named contact, a revised schedule, extra time or deferred assessment. If you need to step away, a planned break in learning pauses your programme and extends your end date so your place is protected.

We are not a counselling or clinical service and we do not pretend to be. Our role is to adjust your programme and connect you with help.

A quiet room

Faraday House has a multi-faith room with prayer mats and a selection of holy books. It is also a quiet space for reflection or a moment away from the classroom. Ask at reception. It is open during centre hours, 8.00 to 17.00, Monday to Friday.

If you are falling behind

Missed deadlines and low attendance are often the first sign that something else is wrong. Our Learner at Risk process is designed around that. Your tutor contacts you within five working days to understand what is happening and agree an action plan. Reasonable adjustments and wellbeing support are considered before anything else. Your employer is involved from the first formal step so the plan works at work as well as in class.

Removal from a programme is a last resort, with 28 days’ notice and a right of appeal. Our aim is the opposite: to change the plan so you can finish.

Confidentiality

What you tell us about your health or circumstances is shared with your employer only with your agreement, unless there is a safeguarding reason. Records are held under UK GDPR and kept only as long as our policies require.

Safeguarding

Every Medipro learner has the right to feel safe. All staff hold an enhanced DBS check and complete safeguarding and Prevent training every two years. Our Safeguarding, Inclusion and Wellbeing Lead is the designated safeguarding lead, supported by safeguarding champions.

Worried about your safety or someone else’s?

In an emergency, call 999

Concerns are acted on the day they are received. A concern is never held until someone returns from leave. We cannot promise to keep a concern confidential if someone is at risk, but we will always tell you what happens next.

Our safeguarding practice follows the Care Act 2014, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and the Prevent duty. Our full policies are in our document library.

Your voice

Every learner survey asks whether you feel safe, respected and supported. We report the results monthly by course and publish what changed as a result each quarter. If something is not working, tell us. Changing it is quicker than you might expect.

Over 10,000 people have begun their clinical career with us.

Our clients include the largest NHS ambulance services, and leading multinational corporations. We have trained thousands of students, helping them to achieve their dreams.
