Are you ready to take your emergency care skills to the next level? Look no further than the Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC4). This nationally recognised qualification is designed for healthcare professionals who provide emergency care in a variety of settings.

With FREC4, you’ll gain the knowledge and clinical practice needed to confidently assess patients using various methods, including physiological measures. You’ll learn how to act on your findings and provide safe, prompt, and effective prehospital care in emergency situations.

This qualification aligns with Skillset E of the Faculty of Prehospital Care RCS Ed Framework, ensuring that you meet the required competencies to deliver high-quality care. Upon completion, you’ll have an intermediate level of prehospital care knowledge, equipping you to handle a range of emergency scenarios.

This comprehensive programme covers all the essential subjects you need to become a proficient emergency care provider. From adult, child, and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the management of fractures and thoracic trauma, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on experience required to handle critical situations confidently. Learn how to assess patients, recognise electrocardiogram patterns, manage airways, use immobilisation and extrication equipment, and even assist with advanced procedures to support paramedics.

Upon successful completion of the written and practical assessments the following certificates will be awarded:

  • QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care

Although there is no expiry date, learners are expected to keep a CPD portfolio and attend a Basic Life Support annual update to maintain validity.

Learners must be 18 years old and should have completed a Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care or an equivalent recognised qualification. They also need to present a CPD record that include 118 contextualised learning hours. The hours can be additional learning including reading extra resources, work experience, shadowing, mentoring or other appropriate clinical exposure.
