Our FREC 4 (Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care) course is delivered monthly from our Stockton‑on‑Tees training centre (TS18 3TT), and is available as on-site group training across Teesside and the wider North East for up to 20 learners.

This advanced pre-hospital care qualification is suited to professionals seeking to enhance their ambulance, event medical or healthcare support roles. Designed for learners from Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar, Darlington, County Durham and beyond, the programme combines immersive practical skills with updated clinical protocols, in-line with current NHS and private sector standards.

All FREC 4 learners who book and complete after June 2025 will be eligible for a FREE Level 3 SALM course.

The FREC Level 4 qualification builds on FREC 3 skills and introduces advanced pre-hospital emergency care techniques. Key learning areas include:

Advanced Patient Assessment – Conducting systematic clinical evaluations and decision-making in emergency care.
Airway Management & Ventilation – Using suction units, airway adjuncts, supraglottic devices, and oxygen therapy.
Pain Management & Pharmacology – Administering and managing prescription-only medicines (POMs) under clinical governance.
Major Trauma & Advanced Bleeding Control – Managing fractures, dislocations, burns, and catastrophic haemorrhage.
Cardiac Arrest & Shock Management – Understanding electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation, CPR, and fluid resuscitation.
Incident Management & Triage – Handling mass casualty incidents, major incidents, and multi-agency response coordination.

This course is highly practical, ensuring learners gain confidence in dealing with real-world emergency scenarios.

Upon successful completion of the written and practical assessments the following certificates will be awarded:

Although there is no expiry date, learners are expected to keep a CPD portfolio and attend a Basic Life Support annual update to maintain validity. You can complete this by clicking here

Learners must be 18 years old and should have completed a Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care or an equivalent recognised qualification. They also need to present a CPD record that include 118 contextualised learning hours. The hours can be additional learning including reading extra resources, work experience, shadowing, mentoring or other appropriate clinical exposure.

  • ELCAS funding – learners from the military may have funding available to support new civilian qualifications. Depending on the length of your service you maybe eligible for £1000 or £2000 towards this course.
  • Multiple booking discount – for companies who book 4 or more learners onto this course, you will be given a 15% discount on the total price.
  • FREE – Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medications course (SALM) to all Medipro FREC 4 qualified learners who book from June 2025.
