Course Overview

This 3-day FREC 3 Refresher course is designed for learners whose current Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) certificate is due to expire. Delivered monthly from our Stockton-on-Tees training centre (TS18 3TT), it ensures you retain your qualification and meet the latest pre-hospital care standards.

Accredited by Qualsafe Awards and regulated by Ofqual, this refresher allows professionals to demonstrate continued competency and maintain eligibility for employment or progression to FREC 4 and higher-level roles.

We regularly train medics, event responders, ambulance staff, and security personnel from across Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar, Darlington, and the wider North East.

For organisations with groups of learners, we also offer on-site refresher delivery using our mobile education units—ideal for event companies, training providers, or private ambulance firms operating throughout Teesside.

Taught by experienced clinicians, the course reinforces the critical skills and knowledge required for emergency medical care in real-world scenarios. This includes updated clinical protocols, hands-on practical sessions, and assessment preparation—all delivered in a focused and supportive environment.

This refresher course revisits the core FREC 3 content and prepares you to perform confidently in time-critical emergencies. Topics include:

  • Scene safety, patient assessment, and communication
  • CPR, AED use, and advanced airway management
  • Bleeding control and trauma management
  • Spinal immobilisation and major incident response
  • Common medical emergencies (stroke, diabetes, seizures, asthma, etc.)
  • Use of emergency medical equipment and casualty handling

Training is delivered through practical sessions, scenario-based simulations, and focused theory refreshers to reinforce best practice.

Upon successful completion of the written MCQ and practical assessments the following certificates will be awarded:

  • Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), which is valid for 3 years

Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of the training and hold a valid current Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care certificate.

  • ELCAS funding – learners from the military may have funding available to support new civilian qualifications. Depending on the length of your service you maybe eligible for £1000 or £2000 towards this course.
  • Multiple booking discount – for companies who book 4 or more learners onto this course, you will be given a 15% discount on the total price.
  • Returning learners – all learners who choose to use us again will be given 10% off the total price of their refresher as a way to thank you for your support.
