Course Overview

Five classroom days, not ten

The IMCA Diver Medic Technician certificate is the recognised standard for divers and diving support personnel who may have to provide emergency medical care in hyperbaric or offshore environments. Major diving contractors require a qualified DMT on every air and saturation team.

Medipro is one of five IMCA-approved DMT centres in the UK, and has held that approval for over 15 years.

Most approved centres run this as ten classroom days. We run five.

The theory is delivered online before you arrive, so the time with us goes on practical skills and scenarios rather than lectures. You cover the same IMCA syllabus.

If you are travelling to us, that is one week on site rather than two. We train divers from across the UK and from overseas, and the saving is largest for those coming furthest.

Three certificates, one course

You leave with the IMCA Diver Medic Technician certificate, a Medipro First Aid at Work certificate and Emergency Oxygen for Divers. No separate bookings, no additional fees.

Accommodation

HSE Diving Medical

Assesses your fitness to work offshore. Separate from this qualification, though operators normally require evidence of fitness. Booking this option does not guarantee that a medical certificate will be issued.

The programme runs in two phases: online theory at your own pace, then five days of practical training with us.

Online theory phase

How you are assessed

What you will hold on completion

  • IMCA Diver Medic Technician, valid two years
  • Medipro First Aid at Work, valid three years
  • Emergency Oxygen for Divers, valid three years

Your DMT certificate lasts two years. When it is due, our two-day DMT Refresher renews it.

To receive the IMCA certificate you need an offshore diving qualification: an LST, a diving supervisor certificate, or a diver qualification recognised by IMCA at offshore grade.

If you do not hold one, you can still attend and we will issue a Medipro certificate instead. Call us before booking so you know exactly what you will come away with.

IMCA no longer requires a diving medical certificate to attend and obtain the DMT certificate. Contact us if your situation is unusual.

There are several ways to pay, and a few ways to pay less.

Secure your place with a 20% deposit

You do not need to pay in full to book. Pay 20% at checkout and secure your place on the date you want. The balance is due before your course starts.

Pay in full with Klarna

Choose Klarna at checkout and spread the cost on Klarna’s terms. Your place is paid in full and confirmed straight away. Subject to Klarna’s eligibility checks.

12-month payment plan

Pay across twelve monthly instalments at 0% interest. Speak to our team before booking to set this up.

ELCAS funding

Service leavers may be able to claim up to 80% of the course fee through ELCAS. We are an approved provider and can help with the paperwork.

Multiple booking discount

Employers booking four or more learners receive 15% off the total, including any optional services added at checkout.

Trained with us before? When you come back to requalify, take 10% off your refresher.

Staying overnight

Travelling to us from outside Teesside? We have agreed learner rates with the Sporting Lodge Inn at Stainton, a 5 to 10 minute drive from our Stockton-on-Tees centre, with easy access from the A19 and A174.

  • £75 per night – bed and breakfast
  • £95 per night – dinner, bed and breakfast, including a two-course evening meal and a drink

Both rates include free on-site parking and free use of the hotel gym and 25-metre pool. There is a pub and restaurant on site.

These rates are only available through us, not directly with the hotel. Add the nights you need to your checkout when you book your course, and we will arrange it and confirm the details with you.

Rooms are subject to availability, so book as early as you can. Plans change, so if you need to cancel your room, do so up to 24 hours before arrival and we will refund it.

Our centre is Faraday House, Sopwith Close, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 3TT, with free on-site parking and direct access from the A66 and A19.

By rail

Darlington sits on the East Coast Mainline, under three hours from London King’s Cross, with direct services from Edinburgh, Newcastle, York and Leeds. Eaglescliffe is the nearest station to the centre, with parking, cycle storage and ticket facilities.

By air

Teesside International Airport is around twenty minutes away and Newcastle Airport about an hour, with direct flights from Aberdeen, Belfast and Dublin.

What does the DMT course cost?

£1,295 including VAT, covering all three certificates, materials and registration. You can secure your place with a 20% deposit.

What qualifications do I need?

For the IMCA certificate you need an offshore diving qualification: an LST, a diving supervisor certificate, or an IMCA-recognised diver qualification at offshore grade.

Can I attend without a diving qualification?

You can attend, but IMCA will not issue their certificate. You would receive a Medipro certificate instead. Call us before booking so there are no surprises.

Do I need a diving medical?

No. IMCA no longer requires a medical certificate to attend and obtain the DMT certificate.

How long is the certificate valid?

Two years. You then take the refresher, which we run as two classroom days.

How long is the course?

Five days with us, after you have completed the online theory at your own pace. Most approved centres run ten days.
