Refresh, renew, and advance your DMT qualification with our new IMCA Diver Medic Technician (DMT) Refresher Course. Designed with convenience and flexibility in mind, this blended course is the first of its kind in the UK, offering divers the ultimate learning experience.

Part 1 of the course takes place online, allowing you to study at your own pace. With 13 comprehensive modules that cover all essential aspects of DMT knowledge and skills. To ensure maximum retention, each module concludes with a brief multiple-choice quiz to reinforce your learning and allow progression.

Once you’ve completed Part 1 online, you’ll have the freedom to choose a 2-day Part 2 session that suits your work pattern. This practical application phase is where you’ll put your refreshed skills and knowledge into practice. Engage in dynamic scenarios, interactive activities, skill stations, and case studies under the guidance of our expert clinical tutors.

Throughout the course, you’ll have access to a wealth of online learning materials and a waterproof core manual for quick reference during emergencies. Looking to refresh your skills as a Diver Medic Technician? Look no further! Our comprehensive refresher course covers all the essential topics you need to stay up-to-date in this critical field.

Part 1 of the course focuses on key modules such as cardiology, central nervous system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, diving illnesses, gas toxicity during diving, shock management, common medical conditions related to the ear, nose, and throat, extremes of temperature, drowning prevention and management, burns treatment, and drugs administration.

In Part 2 of the course, we focus on the practical application of the syllabus. You’ll learn essential skills like care of medical equipment and record keeping, advanced life support techniques, control and management of dive-related injuries or illnesses. Additionally, you’ll gain proficiency in procedures such as insertion of chest drain and needle decompression, patient examination skills, suturing techniques, intraosseous infusion methods for emergency situations. Moreover advanced airway management techniques including the use of defibrillators for resuscitation purposes will be covered. Lastly you will be trained in oxygen administration techniques for providing immediate care during emergencies and trauma care skills.

Learners will be assessed by:

Part 1 – Multi-choice questions
Part 2 – practical assessment

Upon successful completion learners will be awarded the following:

– IMCA Diver Medic Technician certificate valid for 2 years
– MediPro First Aid at Work certificate valid for 3 years
– Emergency oxygen for divers certificate valid for 3 years

To qualify for the IMCA Diver Medic Technician re-qualification, applicants must hold:

  • An offshore diving qualification (This can be an LST, diving supervisor or diving qualification recognised by IMCA) and
  • A current valid IMCA Diver Medic Technician certificate.
