This one-day CPD skills programme is designed for newly qualified paramedics (NQPs) and any registered paramedic looking to refresh their clinical skills. Based at our dedicated classrooms in Stockton-on-Tees, the course offers a supportive and confidential environment where you can develop confidence, enhance your decision-making, and practise essential interventions without the pressure of formal assessment.

Through hands-on simulation using a wide range of clinical equipment, you’ll work alongside experienced paramedic educators and peers to revisit core skills, discuss best practice, and explore real-world decision-making scenarios.

Whether you’re preparing for an interview, returning to practice, or simply wanting to stay sharp in your clinical abilities, this programme provides an ideal opportunity to update your knowledge, build confidence, and connect with fellow professionals.

This intensive, hands-on programme focuses on the practical application of key clinical skills, while also exploring the theory behind decision-making, best practice, and professional judgement.

Core areas of learning include:

  • Resuscitation: Pit stop approach, defibrillation, airway management, assisting with advanced airway interventions (intubation, surgical airway).
  • Patient Assessment: Structured assessment techniques, vital signs monitoring, ECG interpretation and red flags, safe administration of medications.
  • Trauma Management: Extrication techniques, major haemorrhage control, splinting, triage, and immobilisation.
  • Professional Discussion: Case studies, ethical dilemmas, decision-making frameworks, and career pathways – including opportunities outside ambulance services and advice on self-employment.

  • Cannulation & IV fluid setup
  • Intraosseous (IO) access
  • Airway management (NP/OP airways, BVM, i-gel)
  • Assisting with intubation & surgical airway
  • Major bleeding control & pelvic binders
  • Traction splinting & immobilisation
  • Extrication techniques
  • Bandaging & wound dressing
  • Drawing up and administering medications (IM injection, nebulisation)
  • Suction & choking management
  • Defibrillation techniques
  • Manual blood pressure measurement & auscultation
  • Abdominal palpation
  • Blood glucose testing
  • Ottawa Ankle & Knee Rules
  • ECG application & identification of red flag indicators
  • Paediatric assessment skills

By the end of the day, you will have refreshed and reinforced your clinical abilities, increased your confidence, and gained valuable insight into real-world paramedic practice in a safe, supportive, and non-assessed environment.

On completion of the day you will receive a CPD certificate of attendance. Includes access to a selection of our e-learning content.

Designed for people who have recently completed a HCPC Paramedic program, or Paramedics who wish to revisit their skills. Other medical professionals are welcome to attend but be aware that the focus of the discussions are UK ambulance based scenarios and protocols.
