Course Overview

Your Practice Team’s Annual Life Support — Mostly Online, Just One Hour in Centre

This CPD-accredited annual update keeps GP practice teams compliant and confident. It is built around the CQC and Resuscitation Council UK expectations for yearly resuscitation training, with almost everything completed online — so the only time away from the surgery is a single one-hour hands-on visit, short enough to fit a lunch hour, where your team practises and is signed off as competent for the year.

The in-centre hour is spent on what must be seen and assessed: high-quality CPR, safe AED use, the recovery position, choking, and recognising and treating anaphylaxis with IM adrenaline — the medical emergency most relevant to a practice that vaccinates and injects. Delivered by experienced clinical educators.

We can also come to you. For teams of 10 or more, we deliver the hands-on session on-site at your practice — so nobody has to leave the building. Just complete the eLearning beforehand and we bring the training to you.

Why Choose This Course?

  • We come to you – on-site delivery at your own practice for groups of 10 or more; no travel, no time lost.
  • Minimal time out of the surgery – one hour hands-on, designed to fit a lunch hour; everything else is online.
  • Built for CQC – aligned to CQC and Resuscitation Council UK expectations for annual resuscitation training.
  • Hands-on and assessed – real manikin and AED practice with competency signed off, as recommended for clinical staff.
  • Whole team – suitable for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Certificate & CPD evidence – a 12-month certificate and CPD record for your inspection folder.

Across the online eLearning and the one-hour hands-on visit, you will be able to:

  • Recognise an emergency – spot cardiac arrest and know how to summon help and start CPR.
  • Deliver high-quality CPR – effective compressions and ventilations for adults, with the key differences for children.
  • Use an AED safely – apply and operate a defibrillator with minimal delay.
  • Manage the airway – recovery position and choking in adults and children.
  • Treat anaphylaxis – recognise anaphylaxis and give IM adrenaline confidently.
  • Understand your responsibilities – the regulatory context, infection control, equipment checks and post-incident actions.

On completion, delegates receive a MediPro CPD certificate confirming their annual Basic Life Support and AED update (valid for 12 months), aligned to Resuscitation Council UK guidelines.

No formal entry requirements. Suitable for all GP practice staff, clinical and non-clinical. Delegates complete the online eLearning before attending the one-hour visit.
