Course Overview
Small actions, real respect: dignity and privacy training online
Dignity and respect is one of the CQC fundamental standards. This dignity and privacy training online shows care staff what that looks like in practice. Think knocking before entering, covering people during personal care and using the name they prefer.
The course has seven short video modules. Each one needs a 70% pass mark. It also looks at your own wellbeing, as tired staff find it harder to give good care.
Why choose this course?
✔ Linked to CQC standards – reflects the fundamental standard on dignity and respect
✔ Practical examples – everyday good practice you can use on your next shift
✔ Includes self-care – looks after the people giving care, too
✔ Short course – 50 minutes of video, 2 CPD units
The dignity and privacy training online covers principles, practice and common barriers.
- Core principles – what dignity and privacy mean and how they overlap
- Building relationships – getting to know people’s preferences, history and values
- Dignity in personal care – washing, dressing and toileting in a way that respects the person
- Choice and control – involving people in decisions about their own care
- Protecting privacy – private spaces, private conversations and confidential information
- Self-care – managing your own wellbeing so you can support others well
- Overcoming barriers – dealing with time pressure, shared rooms and poor practice
The course suits care assistants, support workers, healthcare assistants and nurses. It fits care homes, home care, hospitals and hospices.

This topic is also covered in The Care Certificate course for new starters.
Why is dignity and privacy training important in care?
Dignity and respect, and privacy, are part of the CQC fundamental standards under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. Training helps staff turn the standard into everyday habits. This dignity and privacy training online focuses on practical examples.
Does this course cover Care Certificate Standard 7?
Yes, it covers the knowledge for privacy and dignity, Standard 7 of the Care Certificate. Your employer must still observe your practice before signing the standard off.
How long is the training valid for?
There is no legal expiry. Many employers refresh this training annually or every 1–3 years, depending on policy.
