Stroke awareness training online to help you act fast
A stroke is a medical emergency, and quick action improves the outcome. Adult care staff often work with the people most at risk. This stroke awareness training online teaches the signs and what to do.
The course has four modules and 55 minutes of video. It covers symptoms, types and causes, treatment and recovery, and long-term care. You study at your own pace around work and home.
Why choose this course?
✔ Recognition first – the course opens with signs and symptoms.
✔ Covers recovery – explains problems after a stroke and how to support people.
✔ Adult care focus – written for staff who support people at higher risk.
✔ CPD approved – carries 2 CPD units.
The modules follow a stroke from first signs through to life afterwards.
- Signs and symptoms – using FAST: Face, Arms, Speech, Time to call 999.
- Types of stroke – ischaemic and haemorrhagic strokes, and transient ischaemic attack (TIA).
- Causes and risk factors – including high blood pressure, diabetes and atrial fibrillation.

- Treatment – the main options and why timing matters.
- Recovery – rehabilitation and the role of therapists.
- Post-stroke care – supporting people with mobility, swallowing, communication and mood changes.
The course is aimed at people working in adult care. It suits care assistants, support workers, healthcare assistants and domiciliary carers. It fits care homes, home care, rehabilitation units and community services.

Training a team? We can help.
Many care providers, NHS teams and employers use our eLearning to keep staff training current. A business account lets you buy courses in bulk, assign them to staff and track completion in one place. That gives you a clear record for audits and inspections.
Since 2008, Medipro has trained thousands of health and care professionals in the classroom and online. We can help you build a training plan that mixes eLearning with practical, tutor-led courses at our centres.
Pair with Diabetes Awareness, Dementia Awareness and Epilepsy Awareness, as these conditions can link to stroke.
What does FAST stand for?
FAST stands for Face, Arms, Speech, Time. If someone’s face drops, they cannot lift both arms or their speech is slurred, call 999 straight away.

Anyone working with adults at higher risk of stroke, especially older people. That includes care, support and healthcare staff.
How often should stroke awareness training be refreshed?
There is no legal expiry. Many employers refresh this training annually or every 1–3 years, depending on policy.
