Course Overview
Spot abuse early and act with confidence: safeguarding adults training online
Anyone who supports adults with care and support needs has a part to play in keeping them safe. This safeguarding adults training online gives paid staff and volunteers the knowledge to notice concerns and report them. It is built around the duties set out in the Care Act 2014.
The course runs in five short video modules, each followed by questions. You work at your own pace on a phone, tablet or computer. Each module needs a pass mark of 70%.
Why choose this course?
✔ Grounded in UK law – covers the Care Act 2014 and related safeguarding legislation
✔ All ten types of abuse – from financial abuse to self-neglect and modern slavery
✔ Clear reporting steps – know what to do, who to tell and what to record
✔ Fits around shifts – 75 minutes of video, split into short modules
This safeguarding adults training online works through five modules, from key terms to the law.
- Key terms – what safeguarding means and who counts as an adult at risk
- Types of abuse – the ten categories in the Care Act statutory guidance
- Rights of adults at risk – choice, control and the right to live free from harm
- Signs and indicators – physical, emotional and behavioural changes that may point to abuse
- Responding to a concern – what to do if someone discloses abuse to you
- Reporting and recording – passing on concerns promptly and writing factual records
- Consent and decisions – supporting people to make informed choices, with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in mind
- Reducing risk – managing the care environment and knowing your own role and boundaries
The course suits domiciliary care workers, care home staff, NHS staff, prison staff and community centre volunteers. It also helps family members caring for a relative at home.
Pass each module at 70% to complete the course and receive your certificate. The course is CPD approved, 3 CPD units, through VideoTile Learning’s accreditation with The CPD Certification Service. Employers can keep certificates in training records as evidence for CQC inspection.

Training a team? We can help.
Many care providers, NHS teams and employers use our eLearning to keep staff training current. A business account lets you buy courses in bulk, assign them to staff and track completion in one place. That gives you a clear record for audits and inspections.
Since 2008, Medipro has trained thousands of health and care professionals in the classroom and online. We can help you build a training plan that mixes eLearning with practical, tutor-led courses at our centres.

Is online safeguarding adults training accepted by CQC?
CQC does not approve individual courses. It checks that staff have the training they need to protect people from abuse. A CPD-approved certificate, kept in your training records, helps show this.
How long does the safeguarding adults training online course take?
There are 75 minutes of video. Allow extra time for the questions at the end of each module. You can stop and return whenever you like.
How often should I refresh adult safeguarding training?
There is no fixed legal expiry. Many employers refresh this training annually or every 1–3 years, depending on policy. Check your organisation’s training policy.
Has the Liberty Protection Safeguards scheme replaced DoLS?
No. LPS has not been introduced and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards still apply. A June 2026 Supreme Court ruling changed how a deprivation of liberty is identified, so follow your local authority’s latest guidance.
