Many people in care homes and home care live with some form of dementia. Staff who understand the condition give calmer, more personal care. This dementia awareness training online explains what dementia is and how to respond to it.
The course has four modules and 25 minutes of video. It covers the brain, the main types of dementia and practical strategies. It also addresses behaviour that staff may find challenging.
Why choose this course?
✔ Quick to complete – 25 minutes of video, suitable for induction.
✔ Explains the brain – shows how different types of dementia affect it.
✔ Practical strategies – ways to communicate and support people day to day.
✔ CPD approved – carries 2 CPD units.
The course moves from understanding dementia to supporting the person in front of you.

- The brain – how dementia can affect different areas and functions.
- Types of dementia – including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and others.
- Recognising symptoms – memory, communication, mood and orientation changes.
- Support strategies – approaches that help people feel safe and involved.

Each module has a 70% pass mark. Learners who pass all four modules receive a certificate of completion. The course is CPD approved and carries 2 CPD units. Providers can use it as evidence of dementia awareness training for CQC inspection.
