Position Overview

About Medipro

Medipro is an established provider of accredited clinical education, professional development and apprenticeships.

Since 2008, we have supported thousands of learners to begin or progress their careers across healthcare, emergency care and related clinical services.

Our specialist programmes include pre-hospital and emergency care, Offshore Medic and Diver Medic Technician education. Courses combine classroom teaching, practical skills, simulation and clinically relevant assessment.

We work with NHS organisations, independent healthcare providers, emergency services and employers operating in remote, offshore and specialist environments.

We are looking for specialist doctors

We are seeking experienced doctors to provide flexible teaching, clinical review and course-development support on an ad hoc, self-employed basis.

We are particularly interested in doctors with current experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Emergency medicine, A&E or pre-hospital care
  • Offshore, remote or occupational medicine
  • Diving and hyperbaric medicine

Doctors may support individual teaching sessions, practical scenarios, course reviews or specific areas of clinical content. There are no fixed or guaranteed hours, allowing assignments to be considered around existing clinical and professional commitments.

Emergency and Pre-Hospital Care

Suitable applicants may have experience in emergency medicine, acute care, urgent care, trauma, resuscitation or pre-hospital practice.

Assignments may include:

  • Delivering specialist teaching, case discussions and clinical simulations
  • Supporting trauma, resuscitation and clinical decision-making sessions
  • Reviewing clinical algorithms, scenarios and learning materials
  • Advising on complex clinical assessment content
  • Supporting tutor development, clinical governance and incident learning

Offshore Medicine

Suitable applicants may have experience in offshore, remote, occupational, emergency or expedition medicine.

Assignments may include:

  • Teaching elements of our HSE Offshore Medic programmes
  • Supporting remote assessment, stabilisation and evacuation scenarios
  • Reviewing medicines, clinical algorithms and course materials
  • Advising on current offshore medical practice and industry expectations
  • Supporting programme approvals, audits and faculty development

Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine

Suitable applicants may have current experience in diving medicine, hyperbaric medicine or the clinical management of diving-related illness.

Assignments may include:

  • Supporting our IMCA Diver Medic Technician programmes
  • Teaching diving illnesses, decompression illness and barotrauma
  • Contributing to hyperbaric treatment, stabilisation and evacuation scenarios
  • Reviewing specialist clinical content and assessments
  • Supporting IMCA-related programme reviews, approvals and audits

Essential requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold current GMC registration and a licence to practise
  • Have recent and relevant experience in their specialist area
  • Work within their professional competence and current evidence
  • Maintain appropriate professional indemnity for the services provided
  • Communicate complex clinical information clearly to adult learners
  • Be willing to follow Medipro’s safeguarding, health and safety, information-governance and quality requirements
  • Provide evidence of qualifications, registration and professional standing

Previous teaching, simulation, faculty or course-development experience would be beneficial. A formal teaching qualification is desirable but not essential where the applicant can demonstrate suitable educational experience.

Any required DBS, identity, right-to-work or programme-specific approval checks will be confirmed before an assignment begins.

Engagement arrangements

This is a self-employed, ad hoc opportunity.

Each assignment will be offered separately and confirmed in writing. The confirmation will include:

  • The course or activity
  • The required services and expected output
  • Dates, times and location
  • Estimated delivery hours
  • Any approved preparation or review time
  • The agreed hourly rate
  • Approved expenses and cancellation arrangements

There is no obligation for Medipro to offer assignments or for the doctor to accept them.

The arrangement may suit doctors who want to contribute to education alongside their existing clinical, academic or professional work.
