Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen visits MediPro
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has visited MediPro’s Stockton training centre after a spectacular 2021 for the company.
In 2021, MediPro secured a contract with London Ambulance Service – the largest ambulance service in the country – for the provision of hundreds of apprenticeships. The same year, they were also contacted by Health Education England and ESFA to support 669 apprentices from East of England Ambulance Service, with 296 additional apprentices to be supported in 2022.
This series of expansions have made MediPro the largest independent provider of ambulance apprenticeships in the UK, which over 1,300 apprentices having been onboarded.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “MediPro’s enormous growth and incredible 2021 is another Teesside success story, showing how we’re punching above our weight in sharing our expertise with the entire UK. The firm is continuing to make a name for itself as a leader in the sector, providing vital training to the ambulance sector at a critical time, not only boosting the region’s profile but actively helping to save lives. It’s great that the firm has been recognised with an awards nomination and I look forward to hearing of their next success.”
Natalia Maslowska, Head of Commercial said: “The last two years have been very challenging for everyone, however, we as a business have adapted exceptionally well. MediPro started providing ambulance apprenticeships in response to critical staff shortages, both within NHS Trusts as well as in the private ambulance sector. Last year has seen us supporting a record number of students and meeting employer needs whilst ensuring quality and inclusive learning. We are incredibly proud of this achievement”
The company also saw an expansion of their workforce, which increased by 25% in 2021, with office space needing to be doubled. They were also accredited by Investors in People, with commitments being made to further develop our workforce and make their workplace a better place.
MediPro has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Apprenticeship Programme of the Year Award at this year’s The Learning Awards.
Currently, MediPro plans to host more ambulance apprentices in Stockton, with applications for Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) now open.
The company also plans to secure another training centre in the South of England as they continue to grow in 2022 and beyond.

MediPro attend The Learning Awards
Last month, the team at MediPro went to London to attend The Learning Awards. MediPro were the finalists for the Apprenticeship Programme of the Year award!
While we did not win any awards on the night, it was a fabulous experience for everyone at MediPro to be recognised at such a distinguished event.
Neil Chandler, our Functional Skills and Academic Support Lead, has received two lovely compliments this month after helping students with their English and Maths assessments. He is a credit to MediPro, and we are glad to have him on board.
“I told Neil that passing Maths was going to be “achieving the impossible” as it has always been the subject that I have struggled with.
He has arranged hour-long Zoom lessons for the last few months and broke the Maths down to the bare basics and began to build them up gradually. He has been patient even when I was annoyingly bad at understanding some of the questions. He has played a key role in me progressing onto the paramedic year of my course and ultimately achieving my goal of paramedic registration.
Neil is a credit to MediPro.”
“Thank you for letting me know my result, but more importantly, thank you so much for showing me that Maths is not as scary as I have always thought.
For me personally, your way of teaching has been the key for me to pass and I will be eternally grateful.”
As our business continues to grow, we would like to welcome to MediPro two new members of staff.
- Alex Hersi – Pastoral Support and SEN Lead
- Ashleigh Sneddon – Office Administrator
We hope everyone will make them feel welcome!
