Course Description

Our Clinical History Taking and Physical Examination Skills course will take your skills to a new level.

This Clinical History Taking and Physical Examination Skills course will equip students with all the theoretical and practical skills required to safely and competently take a detailed clinical history and physical examination of a patient, covering basic conditions and differential diagnoses.

It is most popular with clinical practitioners from nurses, A&E clinicians, Paramedics and ambulance staff, Offshore Medics and community clinicians.

This course covers the following topics:

- Taking a clinical history and documentation using Calgary – Cambridge Framework
-Record keeping and confidentiality

Respiratory Examination and Assessment
- Chest Sounds (practical)
- Percussion and auscultation
- Peak Flow
- Assessment of symptoms and associated conditions

Cardiovascular Examination and Assessment
- Heart Sounds (practical)
- Assessment of symptoms and associated conditions
- Chest Pain assessment

Abdominal Examination and Assessment
- Palpation
- Bowel Sounds
- Urinary assessment
- Common conditions including those that are life threatening
- Neurological Examination and Assessment

ENT and Dermatological
- ENT assessment and common conditions
- Conditions of the skin
- Rashes
- Topical medication

Certification
Although there is no formal assessment students will be monitored throughout the course by our tutors and a certificate will be awarded upon completion.
