This programme give a much greater understanding of incident management control and command.
The Major Incident Medical Management & Support (MIMMS) course is developed in conjunction with and approved by the Advanced Life Support Group (approval code MIDL) and offers learners the knowledge and skills to initially manage a major incident. It is specifically designed for medical personnel who may need to manage any major emergency from ambulance personnel, nurses, medical centres, offshore medics, MOD medics and volunteer services.
This approved course from the ALSG attracts CPD points for registered professionals including doctors.
The MIMMS course content includes an online learning element (VLE) which is completed before attending the 2 days.
The two day content includes a mixture of presentations, table top exercises and site visit:
- Incidents in context
- Command and Control
- Radio Procedures
- Local application of MIMMS
- Major Incident Briefing
After successful completion of a multi-choice question paper, triage, radio procedure and moulage exercises a certificate will be awarded valid for 4 years from the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG).
Students need to be from a medical background (e.g. paramedic, doctor etc…). There is an online assessment to complete via the ALSG website prior to commencing this course.
